SAVE Dade was created in 1993 in order to defeat a proposed statute that would have banned anti- discrimination
ordinances throughout the State of Florida . In 1998, SAVE Dade successfully lobbied for the Miami-Dade County Commission to pass an ordinance banning discrimination based on sexual orientation. The ordinance was challenged at the ballot box in 2002. SAVE Dade won the vote 53% to 47%.
Your Local Voice for Equal Rights
SAVE Dade was created in 1993 to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals from discrimination on the basis of their actual or perceived sexual orientation. SAVE Dade and its education arm, SAVE Dade Foundation, help raise awareness about rights and protections for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The SAVE Dade Action PAC endorses local and state-wide candidates seeking office who support our goals. Through this process, we educate candidates about the issues affecting the LGBT community.
Your Local Voice for Advocacy
Honored for its human rights work by Amnesty International and as the winner of the Miami-Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, 2008 Non-Profit of the Year Award, SAVE Dade is proud of its success in helping gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender South Floridians lead productive lives free of discrimination in their homes and workplaces.
