Local News
Thank You to Our Community for Electing Carlos Gimenez
We want to thank you all for your support in the Miami-Dade Election. Your money, time, and talent was truly felt and made an impact on our community.

I could go on and on, but I figured I would share some of the comments we received from community members:

CJ,
I must say, I have been extremely busy and totally forgot about voting until I read a last minute email written by SAVE Dade, reminding my to vote. I dropped everything I was doing and went directly to my polling station and voted for our new Mayor-Elect. I have work with SAVE Dade for years and understand that we can get discouraged with our community's apathy, but not this time! Thank you for your hard work and efforts. I remain grateful!
Regards,
James

This is great news!
I forwarded the last e-mail yesterday and two people who I know did not plan on voting took the time during lunch and voted. It was very close and I think the endorsement and work by SAVE Dade did go a long way!
Thanks for keeping up the fight.
Alex

Congratulations for all the hard work. You all did a great job. There was a tremendous assault on Carlos Gimenez that was unfair, full of lies and well beyond Robaina's change re family/GLBT issues. The lies being told about Carlos Gimenez were just terrible and I hope this serves as a message to other candidates and 527 organizations that every now and then, voters don't believe the crap.
James

    Champions of Equality a Success
We are thrilled by the success of Champions of Equality this year. We are grateful to have had our community come together and celebrate our distinguished honorees. This was the most highly attended Champions of Equality with nearly 600 people, raising almost $90,000 for the equality movement in Miami-Dade County.

In case you could not attend, here’s a short video highlighting the 2011 Champions of Equality Awards Reception and Silent Auction. Special thanks to Carolina Bonnelly of Bonnelly Films for producing this video:

Whether or not you attended Champions of Equality, we still need your support in the fight for full LGBT equality. Did you know that only 3.6% of our community donates to a LGBT advocacy organization? Special thanks to Merry Bodner, Maria Bures, and Nicholas Pineiro for producing this video:

Are you part of the 3.6%?

Special thanks to photographer Silvia Ros for capturing the evening.  Photos are posted at the SAVE Dade website.

Thank you to our Community Partners for Building the Equality Movement in Miami-Dade County!

At Miami Beach Pride this April, over 150 SAVE Dade volunteers came together to not only staff our booth and march in the parade – we actively recruited over two thousand new friends and family members in the fight for full LGBT equality! Numerous community organizations partnered with SAVE Dade to make this effort a reality, including FIU Delta Lamda Phi, University of Miami Delta Lambda Phi, FIU Stonewall, the Empower U Project, and Pridelines Youth Services.

    SAVE Dade at Pride 2011

We are proud to award the Empower U Project $1000 for recruiting the most people at Pride this year.

Empower "U", Inc. is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) minority, peer-based and managed organization founded by and for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Empower "U", Inc. grew from the need of the infected community to become involved in finding and linking to care, HIV positive individuals who are marginally connected or not receiving medical care and services. We continue to advocate for and serve those who do not have voices.

We are also proud to award Liza Tuckler with 2 VIP Tickets to this year’s SAVE Dade Halloween Party for individually recruiting the most people at Pride. On behalf of the SAVE Foundation, thank you for your continued support and commitment to LGBT equality!
