Welcome Joshua Dunkelman,
SAVE Dade Director of Development

Joshua DunkelmanJoshua Dunkelman - Director of Development - was born in New York and raised mostly in Cincinnati, Ohio. After attending boarding school in New York at Trinity- Pawling, he returned to Ohio for both college (Wittenberg) and graduate school (Ohio State), where he earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

Shortly after finishing in Columbus, Ohio, Joshua joined the Washington, DC At-Large City Council campaign for David Catania. Upon Catania's successful election to a full term as Washington DC's first openly-gay Councilmemeber, Joshua was named Chief of Staff.

Over the years Joshua has continued his commitment to equality, moving back to New York where he took an active role in LGBT causes while living on Fire Island in the Pines. We are glad to have Joshua living here in Southern Florida where he is also an active member of the Wolfsonian FIU's Visionary's Board and currently serving as one of the co-chairs of the MoCA Shakers.

South Miami's first Voter Engagement Training to be held at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami on December 18

South Miami Voter Engagement Training Dec. 18

The Voter Engagement Project will expand with our first training taking place in South Miami at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami on December 18th.  Click here to sign up to attend.

If you were not sure about the effect of Florida's new voter laws, please consider this:  This month, a public school teacher was fined $1,000 by the State of Florida after she attempted to register her students to vote.  United States Senator Bill Nelson spoke to the Washington Independent, calling these laws, "an assault on our most basic rights."

The time for action is now.  We are already on our way to organizing 12,000 pro-equality supporters before 2012, but we need your help so we can make sure our friends, family, and community members are registered to vote.

Sign up today to join us at our December 18th Voter Engagement Training and help us fight back against Florida's egregious voter laws!

Secretary Clinton to United Nations: "Gay Rights are Human Rights and Human Rights are Gay Rights"

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton today delivered what LGBT advocates are calling an historic speech, in which Clinton declared unequivocally that LGBT rights are the same as racial equality and rights for women.

"In most cas
es, this progress was not easily won. People fought and organized and campaigned in public squares and private spaces to change not only laws, but hearts and minds. And thanks to that work of generations, for millions of individuals whose lives were once narrowed by injustice, they are now able to live more freely and to participate more fully in the political, economic, and social lives of their communities."
